Azalee Plantation – A Charming Venue

By: Sarah Ramsey

Our first Wedding Vendor Spotlight! Every bride loves a versatile venue, with plenty of options to get creative and have the wedding setting of their dreams. Azalee Plantation is just that, incorporating an abundance of styles into its extensive location.

Azalee Plantation is located on approximately 1,400 acres of vast, rolling hills in Doyline, LA. The tremendous fields are decked with beautiful ponds, stands of hardwoods, and a historic plantation home. The expansive rural setting is sure to make you and your wedding party feel like you are the only people in the world.

Built in 1842, Azalee Plantation is rich with history. The original name of the property was Saffronia, after the beautiful, yellow wildflowers that still adorn the pastures every spring. It became a cattle ranch in 1954, when the Montgomery family purchased the property. It was then named Ranch Azalee after the family matriarch, Azalee Wilson Montgomery. The current name of the venue honors the historical significance of the plantation and the current owner’s grandmother.

The historical ambiance of the property has been maintained throughout all these years, making for the perfect Southern venue. A ceremony held in the New Orleans style courtyard gives for a romantic elegance, while the grassy fields in front of the house give off a vintage, rustic feel. An evening wedding at Azalee practically decorates itself with the most stunning sunset view you could imagine. That along with the enchanting golden hour glow across the pastures is all you could ask for. Azalee even has your flowers covered with their beautiful gardens that bloom with bountiful pink and white flowers in the spring.

Inside the plantation home, a bride’s suite is located downstairs, and a groom’s suite is located upstairs featuring the original log construction. This allows for the whole wedding party to get ready right on location.
The interior of the home is decorated in beautiful antiques and furniture dating back to the 1800’s. The ruby red, Victorian style sofa in the parlor is a favorite photo spot for brides.

Outside the plantation doors is a 600 square foot party patio and pool area. This area of the property is perfect for a fun filled reception or rehearsal dinner. The covered patio is quite welcoming with a wood burning fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating. The pool area overlooks the beautiful pastures surrounding the home.

What is most special about Azalee Plantation is that it is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Something about being in such an expansive rural location, surrounded by nature really makes you hone in on what is most important, the people who are there to celebrate with you. You can feel the love radiating throughout the entire venue.

From the ceremony of your dreams, to dancing the night away under the stars, Azalee Plantation is sure to make your wedding day the best day of your life.

Azalee is currently booking Fall of 2020 weddings, and you do NOT want to miss out on this stunning venue for YOUR big day!
